CATALOGUE OF COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS

The future of our natural heritage faces two main threats: climate change and biodiversity loss. To monitor these changes we need vast amounts of meaningful data. And to obtain representative diagnoses about the health of natural landscapes we need large teams of collaborators. Anyone, whether they are naturalists or not, can help on these projects simply by reporting their observations The number of collaborative projects devoted to biodiversity studies is growing fast. The common signature of these projects is for experts and non-experts to pool knowledge about habitats and heighten public awareness on the subject of biodiversity.

The Catalan Natural History Institution and the Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona recently co-organized a conference where coordinators of some of these programmes presented their experience related to biodiversity volunteers.

The immediate outcome is a new website that lists all the collaborative projects currently underway in Catalonia.
