Description Marine molluscs collected by Joan Rosal i Sagalés and donated to the Museum in 2000. The collection consists of 6960 dry shells grouped together in 1372 lots. Wide taxonomic range of Gasteropodea, which represent 97% of the lots (by number, samples from the Trochoidea and Rissoidea superfamilies dominate and together represent 40% of all the lots). Also present are specimens from the classes Polyplacophora and Scaphopoda. Most of the fauna originates from the coasts of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands (87% of the lots in the collection). The remaining specimens come largely from the western Mediterranean, but also include a few samples from the Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands, Great Britain and the Caribbean. Most of the lots have been reviewed by the malacologist Carles Altimira. The Nassariidae were reviewed by the specialist Carles Gili in 2014.
