Gonzalo Moragas i Barret (18??-1900), chief civil engineer of Barcelona province had a vocation for the Earth sciences, as shown by his little known book Genesis de les rocas. His vast petrological collection was sold by his widow, Teresa Pujals i Barret, along with the corresponding catalogue, to the provincial council in 1902. It was transferred to the Museum of Catalonia in 1919. The Moragas collection is the largest donation of rocks in the petrological collection, which was used during the work on the geological map of Catalonia. |
