| Description | The archive was created along with the Institute’s library by the botanist Pius Font i Quer.
It contains the body of documents produced and received by the botanists that formed part of the Board of Natural Sciences (1906-1935) and the Barcelona Botanical Institute (1936-1994). It also contains the private documents of some of the botanists (1870-1994) that were linked to the Institute by the permanent loan of their herbariums. In addition, the archive holds documents that once belonged to the Botanical Department of the Museu Martorell, which were incorporated into the Institute’s library after its foundation in 1935. The archive consists mainly of scientific correspondence and botanical studies, along with specialized publications related to the Institute’s herbarium. It also contains an important collection of photographs from the botanical campaigns led by Pius Font i Quer to northern Morocco (1928-1935) and from the botanical explorations carried out by the botanist José Cuatrecasas in Spain (1927-1938). |
